MARK TWAIN,
FAMOUS WORLD TRAVELLER
AND MY HERO SAID:

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.  Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails
Explore.  Dream.  Discover.

This website is strictly devoted to living in the moment.  It’s special focus is on having fun and adventure, living life to the fullest and getting on with it all RIGHT NOW.    Since not all of us are rich, that might mean we’re going to get on with all that fun while living on a shoestring – maybe even a shoestring called Social Security.

And since we don’t want to miss experiencing fascinating corners of the planet where something colorful,  exciting and interesting is going on, this proposed FUN will, of course, include travel.  And not only travel, but mostly travel outside of the USA.  As you might guess, that’s because the challenge of living on a “shoestring” might make it a bit tricky to wander the USA.  Gasoline is HOW much a gallon?  A motel used to be what's lunch money now!  Need I say more.

Not to worry.  You don’t have to run to the post office to order your passport just yet, if ever.  You can just wander along with me and I’ll be sure to keep you enlightened all the way about how much fun we’re having.  Maybe when you find out that it is actually possible for a great grandmother on Social Security to see some exotic places, you might gather up a bit of courage and want to wander off on your own.   But let’s worry about that some other time.  For now, just enjoy the ride.  Maybe later you will decide you would like to get behind the wheel yourself.   Or not.

Hopefully you will notice that many of the travel adventures we are going to embark on will be of special interest to us senior citizens.  Most of us haven’t, after all, lost our taste for fun and adventure.  We just might have become a little less confident and a little less inclined to dive into the unknown now that we are basking in the glow of our golden years.  That’s certainly understandable.  And, as they say, it’s not over until it’s over.

Just remember that while wandering through this website there is nothing to do but relax and enjoy the ride.  Should you happen to get inspired along the way, you will also find endless encouragement, guidance, support and valuable information to help you plan your own adventures.

What you will NOT find here is real estate investment advice explaining which colorful foreign lands will provide the best bang for your retirement bucks.  You won’t be provided with 401K suggestions, investment wisdom, four and five star resort descriptions and recommendations or much on any subject that will cost bundles of money or is all about bundles of money.

This IS the travel site for shoestring, backpacking, penny pinching senior citizens.  Whether you want to take off yourself or not, if you can relate to the challenge of living in the now on limited funds, then you will have a great time visiting here.

If you decide to wander through some of my tales, have a wonderful trip.  And please do keep me posted about your thoughts on this website.  Go to the Contact Us webpage or email me at lindadeblanco@yahoo.com.

Thanks for stopping by.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called

The Present.

Let me share with you some travel tales that might just be fun to think about or maybe they will inspire you to load up your own backpack and follow your heart into the great unknown. If you like it fine right where you are, wonderful!  Just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Robert Louis Stevenson said, "Keep your fears to yourself, but share your inspiration with others."  So if any of what you read in this website sounds scarey, remember it is only intended to inspire and entertain.
